Book Blogger Hop – 17.01.20

This week’s question for the Book Blogger Hop comes from Maria at A Night’s Dream of Books.

Do you think that readers make better employees, as opposed to non-readers? Why or why not?

Book Blogger Hop

This is actually a really difficult question to answer. As a dedicated bookworm, obviously I am somewhat biased, and think that readers make excellent employees, but at the same time I have worked with some fantastic people over the years who would never pick up a book through choice.

I think there are pros and cons to both, and it probably depends on the individual job. For example, in creative jobs, a reader could be a major asset as they are likely to have vivid imaginations that they can apply to their work. Then again, in a job that requires great attention to legally binding details, would you really want an employee who was always tired because they had been up all night reading? I know I was frequently sleep deprived going into my last job because I just had to know what was going to happen next in whatever book I was reading at the time.

This is one question where I am sitting firmly on the fence. What are your thoughts?
